Summer Reading Program Book Nominations

Nominations are currently being accepted for the 2017 Carolina Summer Reading Program selection.

We invite all members of the UNC-Chapel Hill community to recommend books for consideration.  Supported by your suggestions, the Selection Committee will work together to select a dynamic book that will launch new learners into their UNC experience.

Criteria for book selection include the following desirable qualities:

  • Intellectually stimulating: stretching students’ minds, causing students to think about things they might not have thought about previously;
  • Able to provoke and sustain interesting discussion;
  • Well-written, relatively short, and of current interest;
  • Investigating a theme or issue applicable to students’ lives and appropriate to their education (for example, societal, political, or ethical issues).

Do you have a favorite book or books that meet these criteria?  Which engaging book(s) do you think will enable critical discussion among incoming Carolina students?  To submit your nomination, click here.  Full consideration will be given to all book recommendations received by Sunday, October 30, 2016.
